In an effort to bolster up sagging road taxes in the county, de-rail speculations of passenger rail service, and keep the asphalt flowing; officials have decided to try 3 toll booths on major arteries leading into the county. These locations are not up for public discussion, and the normal avenues of local funding and money changers have all agreed that this is the best direction for the county.

Dear Lumpy, you are spot on and this is where we will see the general privatization of our country begin. Across America public sewer and water systems are being sold off by local governments. Community owned hospitals are being bought up by private for-profit firms.
The reasons are many but one that comes up time and time again is that while the politicos won't raise taxes to cover services they will gladly allow a corporation raise the rates for those same services.

What's wrong with Gross Vehicle Weight impact fees? Even bc political machine sees the giant debt coming. No way to pay for repair of roads, no way to pay for upkeep of what we have; and we're still lulled to sleep with locals hollerin' about building a parallel Alcoa Hwy (One of the most stupidest ideas I've ever heard), adding more horror to folks' daily commute.
God forbid, we ever offer to OUR citizens a form of Mass Transit that takes other drivers' problems out of our paths. Every accident on Alcoa Hwy now is used by the TPO to fuel their incessant whining about a parallel Alcoa Hwy. Open up a Light Passenger service, and give it a try. Why is that so evil? Is it a form of Socialisum? Is that the fear? Track doesn't reuire 1/10th the upkeep asphalt does. Let BC PM ride by humself everyday, and LL sniff her own perfume, and let us normal folks ride in peace.

No woories of toll boths anytime soon. All of the roads indicated on your map are US highways and it will take years to complete all of the impact studies.
