Is it still warm? I heard his seat was #7 on the EPA's Super Fund sites in TN, due to the amount of Selenium soaked into the fabric.

We need a fiscal conservative and someone who will listen to and represent the people. McCulley is my choice.

It looks like Bill Clabough is eyeing the spot.

I hope Clabough has changed his position on taxes. I don't know of any tax increase he has ever opposed while serving on the county commission or state legislature. But he will probably call himself a fiscal conservative.

Didn't Finney oust Clabough over taxes and his stance on abortion?

"Didn't Finney oust Clabough over taxes"
Yes, Clabough's support for a state income tax.
Just what we need. Another term of tax and spend.
Read the Knoxnews article. Calls from special interest groups would be my guess wanting him back in Nashville.

I'll vote for a Democrat then. I wish Raymond Finney had not sworn off politics.

Oh, yeah! "PAC man Bill!" Flashback the DT 1998
He ends this election cycle with a balance of almost $70,000.Clabough's listed contributions were also the most PAC-heavy of all six candidates for state seats in Tuesday's election...
Blount County does not need to send yet another special interest candidate to Nasvhille.

Clabough used to live in my district, the one Ramsey has now and he was our State Rep. before he was our Senator. Does he now live in McCord's district? Or is that not required?

The county commission districts don't follow the State House districts. Folks in BCCC district 9 can be in either state district 8 or 20- not that it matters.

I heard that former County Commissioner Jeff McCall may have an interest.

Even though state law allows non-residents of a state representative district to run, I am not sure that was the intent of the law. Why should one district have two resident representatives and another district be served by a non-resident?
Darrell Tipton's daughter has picked-up a petition and there is some talk that McCall maybe interested. Both of these people lives in the 20th District. That district has Bob Ramsey. Surely the residents of the 8th district can elect someone who lives in their district. Tipton and McCall could not even vote for themselves.
There has been a guy from Chattanooga, the third district, running for Congress several times in the second district which includes Blount County. Each time the voters have soundly defeat him as they should. I hope the voters of the 8th state representative district will do the same.
